John Woods is a native of Georgia and a lifelong resident of Cobb County. He attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta where he studied Business Management. John later joined the United Air Force where he served for seven years. After serving in the military he accepted a position in Law Enforcement with the City of Atlanta Police Department. He retired from APD after serving twenty-seven years.
In 1991 he accepted his call into the ministry and attended Emory-Candler School of Theology. He currently serves as pastor of Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Marietta, Georgia.
He is actively involved in the community and serves on numerous civic and charitable boards. As pastor and community leader he has been called to bring transformation to the community in many ways, including countering violence, addressing homelessness and substance abuse, and teaching and leading others to Christ.
He and wife Marjorie live in Marietta, GA and are the parents of five children and six grandchildren.
Pastor Woods is a pastor and teacher whose passion is biblical and his desire is to “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” (2 Tim. 4:2).
